Prata is a multi-application chair thoughtfully designed for the needs of today’s ever-changing workplace

CHICAGO, IL — June 2019 — Designed by Carl Gustav Magnusson in his third collaboration with Allseating, Prata is a multi-application conference and/or executive chair that exudes confidence through its thoughtfully designed details and fully integrated core.

Prata, meaning ‘talk’ in Swedish, was inspired by the everyday conference room.As chairs are typically tucked into the table making the back of the chair the first visual impression, Magnusson designed Prata so that it is visually appealing and inviting upon that first impression.

Typically, chairs can be riddled with multiple knobs and levers that are difficult to navigate. Prata stands apart from its competitors with fully integrated height and tilt levers. The two adjustments are elegantly engineered into Prata’s polished aluminum frame, along with a synchronized mechanism that automatically accounts for variations in weight, allowing Prata to be inviting and intuitive.

“Prata was designed to be visually inviting from the back, as that’s the view you see when you enter a conference room.” says Carl Gustav Magnusson of CGM Design. “As you sit in a new chair you need to learn how to operate it, but with Prata, a person’s hand intuitively falls to the integrated height or tilt levers to allow for easy adjustment. The two hepatic-shaped levers are integrated into the distinctive aluminum frame which alleviates the need for exposed levers, leaving the bottom of the chair shell visually clean. The result is a fresh solution of simple elegance and function.”

Prata’s inviting shape is created by undulating surfaces that take advantage of traditional stitching which surrounds the upholstery shell. The result is one of inviting comfort and elegance with classic cues of craftsmanship and exuding confidence. An optional veneer back variation further elevates the design and expands visual and creative possibilities.

In addition to Prata, Allseating will also be featuring product previews at NeoCon such as Todd Yetman’s two new collections, Watson and Innate; Mantra by Industrial Designer, Nita Chakravarty; and Nick Gillissie’s Exchange Phase 3. The brand will also be previewing Emanuela Frattini Magnusson’s fabric collection that features geometric shapes and pops of color.
